Students practiced using a tool called "Alien Antennas" to help them organize their thoughts about the nearest ten and the nearest hundred to a given number. We used our interactive white board and "light pen" to add details and color to our aliens!

How many beans can you grab with your left hand? Right hand? Third graders predicted, grabbed, counted, combined numbers, and determined the difference between the two hands.

Our third graders have been keeping the school informed of the current standings in our school-wide Box Tops Contest. Each week, PTA give us the current class totals and we represent the data by adding it to the bar graphs that can be found on the wall outside of the cafeteria. The contest only runs through the month of September, so get your box tops turned in ASAP! Your class could win an ice cream party!

We have been creating, analyzing and growing patterns for a couple of weeks. One of the best things we learned was how to use "the math V." It helps analyze number patterns to figure out what the rule of the pattern is.

What do you think about this pattern?
Do you know what comes next?
